Papercraft Final: The Plungening
I started off by making each of the tabs because I knew that they would be the most time-consuming part of the process. I also realized about two of these that I needed to be more careful with how I score each piece because I accidentally ripped/cut through the piece I was working on at least twice.
Between this stage and the former, I also made my build bigger overall. Instead of creating a 5-sided polygon as was originally part of my build, I decided to expand the shape and make it 16-sided instead so that it would create a nicer faux rounded surface.
It wasn't new information to me but I was reminded after ruining two of my base pieces just how much I hate Elmer's glue as I spent more time fighting to get things to stick together properly than I did anything else during this process.
But eventually, I was able to get all my pieces cut out and experimented with a few different alternatives to get them to stay together. I found that I most preferred using mod podge and hot glue (for the more difficult pieces that didn't want to cooperate).
So a plunger seems like it's an odd object choice. I get it. I feel like I think plungers are way funnier than they really are because when I was younger, I worked at a summer camp with one of my friends, and during a prank that went horribly awry for her- I ended up beating her with a plunger.
It's a funny joke between us now, not so much back then.
Anyways, when I sent her pictures of the final product she was super upset with me that this is the subject I chose for the papercraft final but c'est la vie.
I'm excited for the next project, onto the next build!
