Papercraft Prototype: Playing Catchup

I had a hard time deciding which idea I wanted to go with from my concept generation, however, knowing that I would be a bit pressed for time- I decided to go back and refine one of my ideas and went for something that I thought would be reasonable to get completed.

Therefore, I went with the plunger.

I started off by going back to fix my tabs to create the perimeter of the plunger. I don't know if that raised edge has an actual name but I've been calling it the rim which should be close enough if there really is a term for it?

When I got to this point in the design I realized that I would need to add some additional tabs in order to get the piece to stick to the actual base of the plunger so I went back to add that to my digital file later on.

Additionally, I didn't get any photos of it but I originally only had three tabs running along the side edge of this section that makes up the base then found it made the final form look awkward when I started to glue the pieces together and ended up going back to fix that as well and added one more.

I also learned from this process that I hate Elmer's glue with a passion. Even though this is printer paper and shouldn't need much to get them to hold together, I kept finding that my build would fall apart on me. This is why I also used tape in this picture to hold things together while I figured out if everything looked the way I hoped it would when put into practice.

To be honest, the glue made me a little pessimistic to try and recreate this process with the cardstock but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it?
