[FINAL PROJECT] 3D PRINTED OBJECT
To be honest, I was pretty nervous about working with a partner on an assignment because I'm still pretty bad at rendering models. On one hand, I have a lot of fun with them, but on the other, working with someone else means potentially dragging them down with me if I am struggling.
Luckily, Ethan is better at making models than I am so although we had a small hiccup at first where he didn't have samples for us to start making concepts on the first day, he was super receptive about messaging me outside of class time on Discord so that we could still try and throw some ideas together.
We originally wanted to try and create a model that was something closer to this sketch:
But then we realized that creating it was a bit out of both of our skill ranges (lol) when it came to actually creating the model and then getting it to work properly when we tried to do a test print through Prusa-Slicer as it kept trying to fill in the holes that we wanted near the edges of the design.
Overall, I had a lot easier of a time than I thought with this project, especially because Ethan did a lot to quell my fears/insecurities about working on Rhino with someone else. I'm really thankful that he did a fair bit of the heavy lifting when it came to actually creating the model itself because it meant that I was able to do the troubleshooting for us whenever we encountered a problem... which was a fair number of times.
As of now, when I am writing this entry, we haven't had the chance to see out model actually printed out, but I'm really excited to see if it ended up working out as we had hoped!
